Working with Interpreters (ICC19_WWI)

Working with Interpreters gives you a framework to understand services that you can use to communicate when your migrant and refugee clients don’t speak your language. You’ll start by learning what different language services are available and how they can help. Then you’ll learn the skills and knowledge you need to book the right interpreter, brief them before a conversation and then carry out an interpreted conversation.

Working with Interpreters takes about 30 minutes and is an in-depth primer or refresher for staff who work with interpreters.

Learning Goals:
After completing the course, you will gain clear knowledge about:
- How interpreters can make your job easier and more satisfying
- How to identify if an interpreter is needed
- How to book and set-up for interpreted conversations
- How to communicate via an interpreter

You can get started immediately and complete the course at your own pace. Your progress is saved at the end of each section.
